Get ready for these little taste explosions.

These are SO good and great as treats for adults and kids alike.

Dates are a great way to naturally sweeten any type of dessert as they have plenty of fibre to allow the fructose to enter your bloodstream at a nice, steady, manageable pace.

When ever I talk about going 'sugar free', I'm referring to breaking your sugar habit and not being dictated to by an addiction.

Once you have managed to kick your sugar habit, then treats like this are fine and like every recipe on my blog, there is no added sugar.

INGREDIENTS

30g organic or gluten free oats

80g dates

80g unsalted cashews

3 tbs cacao nibs

2 tbs coconut oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 pinch of salt

METHOD

Mix the dates, cacao nibs, coconut oil and salt in a food processor for a few minutes until you get a nice gooey paste.

Then add the oats and cashew nuts and give it another good blitz until you get an even mixture.

This might take a good few minutes and you might need to add in the odd splash of water if the mixture gets too dry.

I use coconut water but ordinary water will be fine if you don't have coconut water to hand.

Once it's all nicely mixed take small pieces and roll them into small balls.

These will keep for a couple of weeks in a sealed container in the fridge - assuming they don't get eaten well before then!
