Mint Lemon Cooler

Updated: May 6, 2020

Lemon and mint water

This is a simple yet tasty cooler that you can make with still or sparkling water.

It's a great alternative to cordials and fizzy pop, which are one of the biggest contributors to a high sugar diet.

One of the greatest favours you can ever do to yourself is stop drinking fizzy soda and pop!

It's crazy how much sugar you'll find in a can of soda - most cans contain the equivalent or sometimes more than the recommended daily sugar allowance in one hit and wreak havoc with your blood sugar levels.

A standard can of coke can contain as much as 9 teaspoons of sugar which is the daily recommended amount for a man and already 2 teaspoons over the recommended limit for a woman.

And all of that sugar does plenty of harm, by cutting it out of your diet there are so many health benefits.

You can read about them in my blog post 17 Amazing Things That Happen When You Stop Eating Sugar.

Once you quit sugar, or cut down your intake, you'll find that a drink like this is really refreshing and does't leave you with a syrupy aftertaste - you'll start to really enjoy the crisp, clean flavour.

INGREDIENTS

Still or sparkling water.

1 lemon or lime

1 sprig of mint

3cm ginger

METHOD

Fill a large jug with cold water and ice.

Squeeze in the lemon juice and add a few slices.

Peel and chop the ginger and add to the water.

Finally crush a sprig of mint leaves in your hand to bruise the leaves and release the flavour, then add to the jug.
