Savoury Popcorn

Updated: May 7, 2020

Savoury popcorn

We all know and love popcorn from our visits to the cinema, but I find popcorn is a really fun snack to make at home and can be eaten in so many ways.

If you are quitting sugar you'll need to steer clear of the sugary toffee stuff that rots your teeth, but instead how about salted caramelised butter popcorn, or chilli popcorn... or parmesan popcorn!?

It is a really good snack to have to hand if you are trying to cut down or quit sugar.

You can keep dipping in to your hearts content and if it keeps you hands and your mind busy then it's another step in the right direction when it comes to snack alternatives when you get sugar cravings.

All you need to make basic popcorn is the corn, a little butter and some salt.

INGREDIENTS

100g Corn

1 knob butter

METHOD

Heat the butter in a saucepan and then add the corn.

Put a lid on the pan, ideally a glass one so you can watch all the fun, then wait a few minutes for the corn to pop.

It should all have popped within a couple of minutes, and as soon as you only get the occasional pop they it's done.

Be careful not to burn the popped corn by leaving in the heat too long after the main popping is done!

Pour into a large bowl and discard any unpeopled kernels then add chilli, or salt and vinegar, or ever parmesan.

You can also heat another large knob of butter and then toss the popcorn back in the pan!

There's no limit what you can add onto your popcorn, I'd love to hear from you with any great ideas!
