The (Not) Snickers Bliss Bites

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

Snickers Bliss Bites

There are some things I really thought I’d miss when I started this sugarfree journey. I wondered how I’d cope without my favourite ‘treats’. But what happens when you cut sugar out of your diet is you stop craving ‘treats’ and you start to taste and enjoy other flavours again.

Something else that sugar does is mask all the other flavour groups, and a lot of the time your body starts to translate all cravings as sugar cravings.

The other great benefit of stripping refined sugar out of your diet is when you eat anything sweet it tastes SO sweet so you only need a little bit to satiate.

Back in my sugar scoffing, unhealthy days I’d think nothing to eating a full Snickers. Aside from the sugar it contains there’s also added glucose syrup too.

So here’s a lovely nutty, salted caramel version smothered in sugar free chocolate and uses only healthy, real whole-food ingredients.

It’s amazing how filling and satiating just one of these balls are and they’re only a 1/3 of the serving of a full Snickers.

It really can be easy to eat the things you like while maintaining a healthy diet.

Snickers Bliss Bites

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 crunchy peanut butter

  • 1/2 cup cashews

  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds

  • 1/4 cip chia seeds

  • 1/4 coconut flour

  • 8 medjool dates

  • Splash of vanilla essence

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Splash of plant milk (to loosen mixture if needed)

  • Bar of sugarfree chocolate

METHOD

  • Add all the ingredients to a food processor and mix together until well combined. See if you need to add a splash of milk to loosen or a little more coconut flour if it the mixture too wet. It needs to be a pliable consistency that holds and easily forms in to balls.

  • Melt the chocolate

  • Make little balls from the mixture and roll in to the melted chocolate.

  • Pop in the fridge to set for 30 mins- 1 hr.
