There are so many mixed messages around eating - how to lose weight, different dietary supplements, the latest diet trend... It can lead to all sorts of confusion about what to eat. I believe the single most important message I can advise all my 1:1 clients is to ‘eat real every meal’. It's the best method to navigate your way back to healthy eating.
A lot of my 1:1 clients come to me looking to lose weight. When we start to look at their eating habits many have tried drastic diets and the outcome is always the same. They’ll have a burst of willpower and they’ll lose weight. Often a lot of weight.
But then, often in a calorie deficit, or worse, a nutritional deficit, their bodies start to crave food - and much more of it. And cue the rapid weight gain, the disappointment, the self loathing and the continued diet, binge eat, diet, binge eat vicious circle of eating.
It’s always a ‘leap of faith’ when I ask my clients to ditch the diets, stop the calorie counting & instead start eating more food (healthy & nutritionally dense food). This is the best way to lose excess weight & maintain a healthy physique.
The minute you reward your body with real food that communicates with every cell in the body, that supports all your systems, regulates your hormones and provides your body with all it needs to function, you will naturally lose weight, feel amazing and will no longer get the same unhealthy cravings.
Eating real, unprocessed, nutritious food is easy too and opens you up to so many new flavours that aren’t masked by the high salt & high sugar content of so many processed foods.
This ‘Chunky Chick Pea Harissa Salad’ offers the full spectrum of flavours and provides so many vitamins & nutrients. It’s brimming with antioxidants and is a great lunch that’s filling and won’t give you that afternoon sugar roller coaster slump that many sugary or high GI lunches can cause.
